Linares.- El huerto urbano más grande del mundo está situado en una azotea del número 8 de la calle Velázquez de Madrid, donde se encuentra el Hotel Wellington. Cuenta con 325 metros cuadrados de jardineras que, con un total de 144.000 kilos de tierra de Tudela, acoge acelgas, lechugas, tomates de diferentes familias, pimientos de padrón, berenjenas, borrajas, cardo rojo, guindillas, calabacines, hierbas aromáticas y fresas.
El hortelano es el director del Resturante Raíces
Si bien es un huerto que no está abierto al público, sí pueden visitarlo los huéspedes del hotel, cuyo restaurante se nutre de estas hortalizas, que cuida el director del restaurante zaragozano Raíces, Floren Domezáin, encargado de controlar el estado óptimo de las plantas, que se riegan por goteo, con 20 litros de agua diarios.
Se creó en el mes de marzo a raíz de una idea del presidente del hotel, Manuel Moratiel, que tras viajar por distintas ciudades se percató de la importancia que cada día cobraban los huertos urbanos en las metrópolis.
Hasta el momento, se han recogido 700 lechugas y 900 cebolletas.
